'You can share your experience working with one of the funders registered or for any other UK funder - this automatically registers them. What are funders doing well? What needs to improve? The more anonymous feedback you share, the more you can influence funders to change'

The Extra Shot
Last year one of my client’s was considering applying to the Weston Charity Awards. As a small charity with limited resource ( 1 or 2 days a month of my time ) we wanted to ensure we were directing our resources well.
Luckily I knew a charity in my network that had gone through the process and had been supported through Pilotlight. It was a fascinating meeting and I learnt a lot (by the grace of the wonderful Karen Chalk who made time in her busy schedule to chat with me so I could advise my client). I followed up this meeting by doing a top-line analysis on the previous year’s winners to see the nature and size of the charities who were chosen ( I also ended up in the accounts of some of the winners to better understand some of their statuses <eyes>)
Ultimately we decided not to pursue an application but it was a great activity to undertake (satisfying the not-so-hidden wannabe PI)
Anyway, it really made me think about the impact such awards or , indeed , grants that come with wrap-around support, which we see with Lloyd’s Bank Foundation and The Fore.
As if by magic The Fore’s Newsletter ‘The Forecast’ dropped in to my inbox last week and I was pretty taken aback by this graphic.
You can see more information in The Fore’s Impact Report 2023/24
